A British Museum Study Day
with Survival International and the
Saturday 31 January
2004
Stevenson Theatre, Clore Education Centre
(below the British Museum Great Court)
Europe's
romantic images of the Pacific Islands and Islanders aspirations for their own
Pacific Way were severely challenged in the late 20th century.
Various countries in the region suffered from political and economic crises,
civil strife, human rights abuses and environmental damage.
What are
the prospects for the future? This Study Day will update us on possible
solutions as well as problems. It will introduce the British Museum, Survival
International and the Pacific Islands Society as resources for learning more
